LED light and Infrared light are two different types of light therapy modalities that are offered in our practice. Both of these modalities have healing, rejuvenative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties. They pair well with acupuncture, microneedling, or can be used as stand alone treatments for an extremely relaxing and nourishing experience.
Infrared Light Therapy
Infrared light is the heat we feel from the sun. Infrared light is invisible light and unlike the sun, it doesn’t contain harmful UV rays that can damage cells and the skin. Instead, infrared light helps cells regenerate and repair themselves, which benefits the skin and promotes anti-aging. Infrared light also increases oxygen rich blood circulation, which in turn, creates faster healing of tissues and provides pain relief. Infrared light penetrates to the inner layers of the skin at about 2 - 7 centimeters deep, reaching muscles, tendons, nerves and some bones.
The professional grade AcuMat is an infrared chakra stone therapy mat that naturally releases both far infrared (FIR) and mid infrared heat (MIR). When this infrared heat hits the specific gemstone crystals in the mat, it creates negative ions which have been shown to increase serotonin levels, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy. The mat includes 7 different gemstone crystals that correspond to the 7 different chakras, or energy centers, in our body: amethyst, sodalite, blue lace agate, green aventurine, yellow aventurine, carnelian, and red jasper.
Research has shown that the combination of red light therapy + infrared light therapy enhances the production of collagen and elastin is associated with wonderful anti-aging benefits.
